What is EdSearch?
EdSearch is an educational search engine specifically designed to help teachers, parents, and students find engaging videos, apps, worksheets, interactive quizzes, sample questions and other resources. You can select resources of your choice and design a resource kit for your students in minutes! You can assign a collection of resources to an entire class, a small group or just one student and monitor their progress.
What kind of resources can you find in EdSearch?
The different resources found in EdSearch can be located in the category section. By selecting the category, you will narrow your search and retrieve only those resources related to the category or categories you have chosen.
How do you customize an assignment using EdSearch?
Step 1: Once you are logged into the Teacher’s Portal go to the menu items on the left side of your screen and you will see the section called Assign Practice.
From Assign Practice you can access EdSearch or from within My Lessons by clicking on create a custom assignment.
You can access EdSearch from within the My Lessons as well
Step 2: Once your EdSearch window opens, in the search bar type in any keywords or the details of the specific standard. Then select the filters for grades, subjects, categories, and click on the EdSeach button to retrieve the data.
Step 3: To select a resource click on the Add To Resources kit next to each resource you would like to add. As you select the resources it will add them to the top of the page to
Step 4: Once your resources are added click on .The list of resources you selected will be displayed.
Step 5: Click on Assign and select the type of assignment you would like to give.
● Create Lesson will allow you to generate an assignment for your student/s as independent classwork or homework. This assignment will be displayed on the teacher’s dashboard as well as in My Lessons at the bottom of the page.
● Present will allow you to have a group session with your students engaging everyone to participate and work on the assignment as a team.
● Bookmark allows you to provide videos and apps as additional resources for your students to review.
Select Create a Lesson
● Provide your Lesson a name
● Decide if you will allow the student to use Calculator
● Is the assignment to be issued in the Test Mode Normal or is it an Assessment
● Select Course the grade and subject you would like to create the assignment under and click on submit
Step 6: Once you have provided the Lesson’s details you are ready to assign the lesson to your students
○ Provide a Title and Description for the assignment
○ Decide if you will Allow Retakes of this assignment (if you do the program will keep track of the students progress on each attempt
○ Decide if you would like to Show Results at the end of the assignment (this will provide the student with the details of which questions they got right or wrong with a detailed explanation of the correct answer
○ Show Recommendations will provide the students with additional practice work on this type of assignment
○ Select the student or group of student you would like to this to and click on the Assign button
● To view the EdSearch assignment you can go to My Lessons and scroll to the bottom section called Custom Lessons. Here you will see any custom lessons you’ve created. This will allow you to reassign this lesson at any time since to another group of students.
● You can also go to the teacher’s dashboard/homepage and see that your lesson has been assigned to your students
When searching within EdSearch are you able to search by Keywords?
Yes, you can search using keywords within EdSearch. Type the keyword/s in the search box and click on EdSearch. All the Resources having resources related to the keywords will display.
When searching within EdSearch are you able to search by Standards?
Yes, you can search using Standards within EdSearch. We provide you a list of the standards for the specific subjects and grades you teach.
You can also enter the Standards in the search box and click on the EdSearch.
How do you use the filters within EdSearch?
You can search by selecting the specific Grade, Subject, Category, and Standards. The resources will be displayed based on these filters.
Are you able to narrow your search by Category within EdSearch?
Yes, you can narrow your search by using the Category Filter.
Step 1: Click on the specific Category type from the list.
Step 2: All the Resources adhering to the specific Categories will display
What types of assignments can you give students within EdSearch?
