FSA SAMPLE QUESTIONS: GRADE 6 MATH

The FSA is a Computer-Based Longitudinal Assessment System for College and Career Readiness. The students will face a variety of new technology-enhanced questions as a part of the computer-based tests.

Some of them are Multiple choice-single correct responses, Multiple choice-multiple correct responses, Matching Tables, Drag and Drop, Hot text, Table Fill in, Graphing, Equation/numeric, Extended constructed response, Short answer, and many more.

Today, we will share several sample questions along with practice test links for grade 6 Math that gives you an idea of questions that your students are likely to see on the test. After each sample question, an explanation follows that includes any important aspects of the task that you may need to consider with respect to the skills, processes, and information your students need to know.

Domain: Grade 6 >> Ratios & Proportional Relationships

Sample Question: Jane can run 12 laps around the track in 30 minutes. How much time does it take her to complete one lap around the track?

  1. 2.5 minutes
  2. 18 minutes
  3. 48 minutes
  4. 360 minutes

Sample Question: Ryan is building some Lego structures. He has 2,430 pieces. Ryan wants to build 15 identical structures. How many pieces will he need for each structure?

Sample Question: Derek spends an average of 37 minutes a weekday on homework. He wants to know how much time other students in fourth grade spend on homework so he asks only students in his class. Will Derek’s survey be biased?

  1. Yes because he is asking fourth graders.
  2. No because he is asking fourth graders.
  3. Yes because students in his class have the same amount of homework as he does. (Correct Answer)
  4. No because students in his class have the same amount of homework as he does.

Answer Explanation: Derek’s survey will be biased because the students in his class have the same amount of homework as he does. To get an unbiased sample, he should ask students from all fourth grade classes.
