00:44 | , we are going to learn the two D shapes
00:48 | . That's right . We are going to investigate them
00:54 | one by one . We're going to take you on
00:56 | a journey to discover the two D shapes , the
00:59 | easy ones and maybe some of the ones that maybe
01:01 | you don't know yet . Mhm . Some of the
01:06 | two D shapes are super easy and you'll be like
01:08 | , I know all of these , but then some
01:13 | of the other shapes are a little more tricky and
01:16 | it's like , I don't know if I've learned this
01:19 | before . Yeah . Wait , can we all agree
01:25 | that was a very weird sound And we should just
01:28 | probably never we should never record that kind of sound
01:32 | again . Yeah that was that was not that's not
01:34 | good . Alright . Two D shades . Let's go
01:37 | back to that . Okay , so let's start here
01:42 | . The trustee circle . We love the circle .
01:45 | Right ? You gotta love circles . Circles are cool
01:49 | . This is what a circle looks like . Here
01:54 | it is your basic circle . You know this is
01:57 | what a circle looks like . It looks like a
02:00 | really big dot , doesn't it ? Next let's look
02:06 | at this shape . This shape is a triangle .
02:10 | A triangle . This is very interesting . Okay ,
02:17 | here it is . Again , the triangle . The
02:19 | triangle . Now triangles are easy to spot . Not
02:23 | just because you can learn what this shape looks like
02:26 | like this . You can actually count the sides of
02:29 | the shape to discover that the shape is a triangle
02:34 | . So let's count the sides together . One 23
02:41 | This shape has three sides . A triangle has three
02:46 | sides . Not all triangles look the exact same .
02:53 | Look at this triangle , we know that this is
02:56 | a triangle because of its sides . Let's count them
02:58 | together . 123 . There are three sides . Every
03:04 | triangle has three sides . It just looks more squished
03:09 | than the other triangle . But it's still a triangle
03:15 | . Now here is something very interesting , very interesting
03:20 | . Let's say we took the triangle and we stretched
03:26 | it out . It's still a triangle right ? But
03:29 | if you did the same thing to the circle ,
03:32 | if you stretched out that circle it actually becomes a
03:35 | different shape a shape called what ? Yeah an oval
03:41 | and oval . When you stretch out a circle it
03:45 | becomes an oval and that's our third shape . Yeah
03:52 | . Here it is again an oval . An oval
03:56 | . An oval is a stretched out circle basically write
04:01 | an oval . You've seen these around . Right can
04:04 | you say that with us ? Oval over ? Good
04:12 | . Let's look through these three shapes again just to
04:15 | make sure we really know them . What is this
04:20 | shape ? Yeah . A triangle . What's this shape
04:26 | do you know ? Yeah it's an oval . What's
04:30 | this shape ? Yeah a circle . Yeah . Okay
04:38 | . What is this shape ? Yeah it's an opel
04:44 | . What is this shape ? Uh huh . It's
04:50 | a triangle . What is this shape ? Yeah a
04:57 | circle . Now we're going to get help from our
05:03 | friend Clarence who's going to show us the next four
05:06 | shapes ? Okay . The next four shapes all have
05:09 | one thing in common . They have four sides ,
05:12 | four shapes that have four sides . So let's meet
05:20 | these shapes . The first one is this shape ?
05:23 | This shape is a square . A square . A
05:27 | very common very popular shape . The next shape is
05:31 | this shape ? What is this shape you already now
05:36 | ? Yeah a rectangle . A rectangle . The next
05:41 | shape is not as popular and you might not be
05:44 | familiar with it . This shape is a trapezoid .
05:48 | Oh that's a fun word to say . Can you
05:50 | say trapezoid Wow Trapezoid . And the final shape is
05:56 | this one which is a parallelogram wow parallelogram . Mhm
06:05 | . First let's look closer at the square . Okay
06:08 | the square has four sides of course but all four
06:12 | of the sides are the same length . Okay so
06:15 | it looks like a perfect box doesn't it ? A
06:18 | square . A square has four sides that are all
06:21 | the same length . Next we're going to take a
06:28 | closer look at the rectangle . Yeah rectangles are pretty
06:33 | cool . They are usually drawn like stretched out squares
06:38 | aren't they ? It almost looks like a square that's
06:40 | been stretched out . But a rectangle is any shape
06:44 | that has four sides and has four corners that look
06:48 | like these . And they're usually drawn like this .
06:51 | So they can be drawn differently . They're usually drawn
06:54 | like a stretched out square . Yeah . Next we
07:01 | are going to take a closer look at the trapezoid
07:04 | . What a cool shape . Name Trapasso . Oid
07:08 | two of the sides are parallel to one another and
07:13 | the other two sides are not . That's what makes
07:17 | a trapezoid a trapezoid thing . Mm You might be
07:23 | wondering what does parallel mean ? Well , let's show
07:26 | you do , We'll show you with these lines .
07:30 | These lines are parallel to one another . Parallel lines
07:35 | are the same distance apart at every point . They
07:39 | never moved closer or further away . Mm hmm .
07:45 | Yeah . Let's look at our trapezoid again , the
07:49 | top side and the bottom side . Those are parallel
07:54 | to one another because at every point there the same
07:58 | distance from each other , aren't they ? But what
08:04 | makes a trapezoid so unique is look at these two
08:08 | sides . These two sides are not parallel to one
08:11 | another . They're actually moving apart as you move down
08:15 | the shape , don't they ? Those sides are actually
08:18 | moving away from one another . They are not Parallel
08:22 | to one Another . That's what makes this shape a
08:25 | trapezoid . Mhm Okay . Clarence . We hope you're
08:32 | ready . The last four sided shape that we're going
08:35 | to be looking closer at is the parallelogram . And
08:39 | as the name might suggest , it's named after the
08:42 | fact that the opposite sides of the parallelogram are always
08:47 | parallel to one another . That's what makes a parallelogram
08:51 | a parallelogram . Mhm . A parallelogram can be drawn
08:57 | in many different ways , but this is the most
09:00 | popular way to draw a parallelogram to draw almost like
09:05 | a rectangle that is having the wind blow really fast
09:09 | towards it . So it's almost bending backwards . It's
09:12 | almost looking like a slanted rectangle . That is the
09:15 | way that a parallelogram is usually drawn . Okay ,
09:24 | so what's this shape do you remember ? Yeah .
09:28 | A square . And what about this shape ? Uh
09:33 | A rectangle . What about this shape ? Uh huh
09:39 | . It's a parallelogram . And what about this shape
09:42 | ? What's this ? Uh huh . Trapezoid . Hey
09:50 | Clarence . Thanks for helping us . What are you
09:53 | brushing your teeth ? Okay , well , good for
09:56 | you . That's awesome . Thanks for helping . And
09:58 | wow , that's it's important to brush your teeth .
10:01 | This is great . I didn't know bears brush their
10:04 | teeth but that's phenomenal . That's great . Are we
10:08 | ? We've got more shapes to cover here . We
10:09 | gotta we gotta go . Sorry , sorry Clarence .
10:12 | We're going to leave your bathroom now . Mhm .
10:19 | We only have three more shapes to show you .
10:21 | The first is the pentagon . The pentagon has five
10:26 | sides , Next is the hex a . Gone .
10:30 | The hexagon has how many sides ? Uh 66 sides
10:38 | . Hexagon has six sides . And the final shape
10:43 | we're showing you today is the octagon . The octagon
10:47 | has eight sides . Eight sides . You've seen these
10:55 | shapes before , Have you ever played soccer ? Yeah
10:59 | . You see two of the shapes in a soccer
11:01 | ball ? The white panels are hexagons . Each white
11:05 | panel is a hexagon and you can see there are
11:08 | six sides for each white panel on a soccer ball
11:12 | and each black panel is a pentagon . There are
11:16 | five sides for every black panel on a soccer ball
11:20 | . A soccer ball is covered in hexagons and pentagons
11:29 | . You've also seen octagon is in real life .
11:32 | Have you ever noticed that a stop sign is an
11:34 | octagon ? Yeah a stop sign is an octagon .
11:38 | It's a shape that has eight sides . Hey a
11:46 | special thumbs up to you . You've done a great
11:48 | job . In fact you've done so well we're going
11:51 | to quiz you . Yeah we're gonna it's quiz time
11:55 | . It's quiz time . I hope you're right ,
11:57 | I hope you're ready . It's quiz time . We're
11:59 | going to find out how many of these shapes you
12:02 | can remember that . You know it's gonna be awesome
12:05 | . You're gonna do great . You've been paying attention
12:11 | . Okay what is this shape ? If you need
12:16 | to count the sides ? Go ahead . What is
12:19 | this shape ? Yeah . Uh huh This shape is
12:26 | an octagon . Good job . Yeah . Okay here's
12:32 | the next one . What is this shape ? What
12:36 | is this shape do you remember ? Yeah . Uh
12:43 | huh . A trapezoid . Yeah . What a fun
12:46 | name to say trapezoid . This is a trapezoid .
12:52 | Two of the sides are parallel to one another and
12:55 | the other two sides are not parallel to one another
13:04 | . Okay , let's try this shape . What is
13:07 | this shape ? If you need to count up the
13:12 | sides ? What shape is this ? Great job .
13:20 | A Pentagon . A Pentagon has five sides . Great
13:26 | job . Okay . You're doing a great job .
13:31 | You're doing a great job . How about this shape
13:34 | ? Okay , how about this shape ? What shape
13:37 | is this ? Mm Yeah . A triangle . Triangle
13:45 | . We know it's a triangle because it has How
13:48 | many sides ? Mm . Uh huh . Three .
13:52 | A triangle has three sides . Well done . All
14:02 | right , let's give this shape a world . What
14:04 | shape is this ? What shape is this looks pretty
14:09 | cool . But what shape is it do you remember
14:14 | ? Yeah , yeah . Uh huh . A parallelogram
14:19 | . That one is fun to say to parallelogram .
14:22 | Can we say that together ? A parallelogram ? Oh
14:25 | , you can say it louder than that parallelogram .
14:28 | Oh come on . 11 more time . One more
14:31 | time parallelogram . Great , A parallelogram . Mhm .
14:40 | All right . Here is the last shape that we're
14:42 | going to quiz you on . What is the shape
14:46 | ? Mm You can count up the sides . What
14:51 | kind of shape is this ? Wow , wow ,
14:56 | impressive . Yeah . Yeah . This is a hexagon
15:00 | . We know it's a hexagon because it has how
15:03 | many sides ? Six sides ? Yes , wow .
15:08 | Very impressive . That is so impressive . Well done
15:12 | . That's great . This is a hexagon because it
15:14 | has six sides . We had so much fun with
