Signs to Help People
You can see signs everywhere you go. Signs show and tell you about things and places. If you are on a trip, a sign
might tell you how far the next town is or where an
attraction is located. While in a town or on a street, you see signs for names of stores, businesses, and streets. You
need to know that many signs tell us things to do and
remember for our safety.
Some signs you know quickly. When you are riding in a car with your parents or others, you
might see the stop sign. It is easily recognized. The word stop is in
bold and the sign
background is red. If you see this sign, be sure to stop. If you are walking look both ways to check to see if anything is coming before you go on.
Another sign that is important in traveling is the
buckle up seat belt sign. Many states have this on their highways to
remind people that not only it is the law to
buckle up, but it is for safety, too. Seat belts keep you from getting hurt in case you are in an
accident. Buckle up every time you get in a
vehicle.
The third sign shown you
might not
notice, but it is very important whether you are walking along with a friend or riding in a
vehicle. If you see the DANGER sign, it means that you must not go near that place. It
might mean that the place or building has chemicals or materials that are
harmful. You
need to stay away because there is a
threat that you could be hurt.
Signs are important in our lives and can help us know where to go, what to do, and what to stay away from, too.
