Georgia Cyber Academy is based in Atlanta Georgia, which comes under State Charter Schools- Georgia Cyber Academy school district. The school supports over 14,319 students across grades K to 12. We conducted a study to understand the impact of Lumos Learning programs on student achievement. We have compared the state ranking of Georgia Cyber Academy in 2017-18 and 2018-19 as indicated in schooldigger
The school used Lumos StepUp program in 2018-19 to support student’s GMAS preparation.
Improvement in State Ranking
There are 1234 elementary schools, 551 middle schools & 435 high schools in Georgia and Georgia Cyber Academy was ranked 744th, 284th & 247th of Georgia public elementary, middle & high schools respectively in the 2017-18 academic year. In 2018-19, the school adopted Math, ELA, Algebra and Geometry programs for Grades 3 to 8 as well for high school students. About 7,848 students used the Lumos StepUp program for GMAS Math & ELA practice. In the 2018-19 ACT Aspire tests, Georgia Cyber Academy rank improved by 93 positions in elementary school category, 56 positions in middle school category & 19 positions in high school category
Grade 3 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 3rd graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 4%.
There was an increase of 1.3%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 3 Math GMAS.
Grade 4 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 4th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 7%.
There was an increase of 11%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 4 Math GMAS.
Grade 5 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 5th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 5%.
There was an increase of 2.4%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 5 Math GMAS.
Grade 6 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 6th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 14%.
There was an increase of 8.3%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 6 Math GMAS.
Grade 7 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 7th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 4.3%.
There was an increase of 1%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 7 Math GMAS.
Grade 8 GMAS Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 8th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 GMAS ELA assessment increased by 9%.
Overall Result
- The use of Lumos StepUp for GMAS Math & ELA practice from grades 3 to 8 in 2018-19 influenced an increase in the percentage of students who have met the standards.
- Grades 4, 6 & 7 students in Georgia Cyber Academy have surpassed the state average in ELA.
- The overall school ranking improved by 93 positions in elementary school ranking category, 56 positions in middle school ranking category and 19 positions in high school ranking category after 2018-19 GMAS tests.
