What is the assessment conducted at the end of the year in Indiana State called?

The assessment conducted at the end of the year in Indiana State is called ILEARN. It is Indiana’s new online computer adaptive assessment designed to measure student’s proficiency of the Indiana Academic Standards in Grades 3–8

What was the earlier assessment conducted before the introduction of ILEARN?

The earlier assessment before ILEARN wascalled iStep+. iStep+ was introduced in the year 1995 for grades 3,6,8 and 10. In 2002, iStep+ was introduced with new academic standards and in 2003, it was extended to all grades from grade 3 to 8. In 2008, the tests were shifted to Spring from fall. In 2015 iStep+ reflects new college- and career- ready 2014 standards.

How many sessions are there for each ILEARN test?

The ILEARN has one Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and One Performance Task (PT) in Math.
In ELA, there is one Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and One Performance Task (PT) which has 2 segments.

What is the duration of ILEARN test?

The duration of the ILEARN tests is as follows:
Math :
CAT will be for a duration of 90 -100 minutes and the duration of Performance Task is 50 to 70 minutes.

ELA:
The duration of CAT is 90-100 minutes and the duration of Performance Task is 110 – 130 minutes.

What are the question types in ILEARN test?

The question types in ILEARN include

1. Selected Response questions such as multiple choice, multi select, matching tables, evidence based selected response,editing task choice and hot text.

2. Machine Scored Constructed Response (MSCR) questions such as graphic response or grid item, Natural language and editing task.

3. Hand Scored Constructed Response (HSCR) questions such as Short answer (2 point rubric) and Extended Constructed Response.

How are the performance levels assessed in ILEARN?

The performance levels for ILEARN are as follows:

LEVEL 1: Below Proficiency
LEVEL 2: Approaching Proficiency
LEVEL 3: At Proficiency
LEVEL 4: Above Proficiency

What is the calculator policy for ILEARN test?

The calculator policy for ILEARN test is as follows:

Calculators are not allowed for Grades 3 to 5. Calculators are allowed for Grades 6 to 8. Grade 6 Online Desmos Four Function is allowed during calculator segments only. Grade 7 and 8 will be allowedd Online Desmos Scientific calculator during calculator segments only.

Students with IEPs and special needs will be allowed to use calculators as defined in the IEPs.

When will results of the ILEARN assessments be announced?

The American Institute for Research, or AIR, will provide student proficiency information by August 15, 2019 for the 2018-2019 school year.
