Where do you find the resources to issue an assignment/Where do you find the table of content to issue an assignment?
From the menu items, you will see an option called Assign Practice.
Step 1: Click on Assign Practice
Step 2 : Select My Lessons
Step 3: My Lessons page will be displayed.
How do you assign a lesson/How do you provide an assignment/How do you create an assignment?
From the menu items, you will see an option called Assign Practice.
Step 1: Click on Assign Practice
Step 2: Select My Lessons
Step 3: Once My Lessons page is open here you will see the list of all the resources you can select to assign.
You can provide an Assessment Assignment or a Digital Workbook assignment at the Domain level by clicking on the blue row and selecting the share icon
You can provide a single Assessment or a single Digital Workbook assignment to a student, class, or group of students 4 ways:
● Select the Assign icon :this allows for an independent assignment (in class, after school, or as homework) to be assigned.
● Select the Smartboard icon : this allows for a live interactive session with your students to discuss questions and collaborate as a group in real time.
● Select the Custom Assessment button : this option allows you to assign additional practice resources by standards or specific topic.
● Select the the Preview icon : this option allows you to pick chose those questions you would like to assign to the students by clicking on the addbutton next each question you would like to assign. Then click on thebutton to display the questions on a monitor, overhead projector, Zoom, or the platform of your choice or click on thebutton to go into the Assignment page.
Step 4: Assign an assessment or digital workbook to a student, a class, or a group of students by clicking on
● This type of assignment is given as an independent assignment to be worked on in class, after school, or for homework.
● You can assign 1 assessment or 1 digital workbook at a time by selecting the lesson from the white or light gray row.
● Or you can assign an entire Domain (found in the light blue rows). This allows the program to automatically assign the Assessment or Lessons in that group. The new assignments are released 1 at a time as the student completes an assignment for that section.
● Once you decide on the lesson you would like to assign the students click on the assign icon in the first column. This will take you into the Assignment Page.
● The Assignment Page will be displayed and here you will fill in the details and select the parameters you would like for your assignment.
● Provide a Title and Description ● If you have a Classroom Link that you would like to share this assignment on for example Zoom, GotoMeeting, etc… you can use this section here to tie the assignment to the platform of your choice. ● Decide on the Assignment Mode Parameters Full Length Allows the teacher to give a Full Length assignment Partial Randomize – allows you to select the number of questions to assign and the order of the questions will be different for each student Do Not Randomize – allows you to select the From Number and To Number of questions you would like to assign and the order of the questions will be the same for all students Difficulty-Based Allows you to select if you would like to provide the assessment or lesson in the Easy, Medium, or Hard mode ● Decide on the Assignment Type Basic This option will not allow the program to automatically provide an additional resources targeting students learning gaps Although, no remediation is given at the time of the assignment it can still be provided at a later time if needed from the main dashboard Remedial The Lumos App will Diagnose Learning Gaps and provide automated remediation at the current grade level standards for those students that fall under a certain proficiency marker. The teacher can set the Proficiency Marker accordingly to the school’s or district’s regulations. If the student/s fall below the proficiency marker, the student/s will be assigned additional targeted exercises to address those standards or learning gaps. Select a Number of Questions that will be assigned to the students for each standard where remediation is given. Deep Remedial Allows the teacher to Diagnose Learning Gaps and provide automated remediation at the current grade level standards as well as at the foundational grade level standards. The teacher can set the Proficiency Marker accordingly to the school’s or district’s regulations. If the student/s fall below the proficiency marker, the student/s will be assigned additional targeted exercises at the current grade level standards to address those learning gaps. If the student/s completes the current grade level remedial assignments and falls below the proficiency marker the program will automatically assign the deep remedial assignments at the foundational grade level standards. The cycle will continue until the student is proficient or the program reaches 3 grade levels deep. Select a number of Remedial questions to assign the students (This addresses the current grade level standards). Select a number of Deep Remedial questions to assign the students. (This addresses the foundational grade level standards for 3 grade levels deep). ● Assignment Parameters Strict Mode If the Strict Mode is turned on this will force the student to complete this priority assignment first before toggling to another part of the program or to another assignment. Timed Test Allows the teacher to provide an assignment with a time limit. Allow Retake If the option YES is chosen, this allows the students to retake the assignment multiple times.>/p> The program will keep track on how well the student performed on each attempt. If the option NO is chosen, this will disable the Lesson and the students will not be able to retake the assignment multiple times until the teacher reassigns and enables it. Show Results If the option YES is chosen, this allows the students to see the summary immediately after they complete their assignment. If the option NO is chosen, the student’s summary will not be displayed after completing their assignment and the students see the following: The teacher can make the results visible once the students have completed their assignments. This can be done from the Teacher’s Dashboard. Lumos Assistant This allows the ability to add a priority to an assignment. When a student logs in they will be greeted by the Lumos Assistant and guided to work on assignments. As students complete an assignment, the Lumos Assistant will continue to provide engaging guided resources that are tailored specifically to address any learning gaps or proficiency gaps that the student might have before moving on to the next topic. The student is engaged in a guided step by step process on what needs to be completed and in the sequence that it should be completed. The Lumos Assistant shows different gestures and emotions depending on how the student performs on the assignments If YES is chosen the assignment will be displayed as a high priority assignment yellow. If NO is chosen the assignment will be displayed as a low priority assignment in white. Schedule Test Allows you to schedule an assignment for a future date and time. Once the date and time is selected the assignment will display on the Teacher’s Dashboard under the schedule tab. When the specific date and time of the assignment arrives, it is automatically moved from the Scheduled tab on the teacher’s dashboard to the Class Assignment tab and into the student’s portal. Show Test Mode Page If this option is turned on it allows the student to see the details of the assignment before starting the test. If this option is turned off then the students will go directly into the test. Show Overview Page If this option is turned on it allows the student to see the details related to the topic or standard being assigned such as solved examples, guided practice questions, videos, and apps. If this option is turned off the students will bypass the assignment Overview Page and proceed to the test or to the Test Mode Page Overview. Show Recommendations This option allows the program to provide recommendations with additional resources for a specific topic or standard. Dictionary Lookup This option allows the students to select specific words within a passage and get a definition. Selecting Students Names for Assignment This option allows the teacher to select the individual students, a group of students, or the entire class for the assignment. Once you have selected the students names click on the assign button. Once you have clicked on the assign button you will be prompted to return to the teacher’s dashboard or the option to provide the assignment to your students using google classroom.What is the Smartboard used for/How do you use the Smartboard?
Smart board allows an interactive assignment with the students in which their actual responses to specific questions can be assessed in actual time. Smartboard allows interactive discussion of a subject matter with a particular student or a group of students. An assignment is usually assigned to one or few students and the process of answering the question is actually a collaborative effort between the teacher and the student(s).
How do you assign a Smartboard lesson?
From the menu items, you will see an option called Assign Practice.

● Using the SmartBoard allows teachers and students to have an interactive lesson.
● The SmartBoard allows teachers and students to collaborate, discuss strategies, and thought process behind answering a question
● In order to assign a SmartBoard practice the students and teacher must be signed into the Lumos app.
● The Smartboard option provides real-time updates. The students get immediate feedback for every question answered and the teachers as well can see what answer options each student has chosen.
● Select the assessment or digital workbook you would like to assign.
Step 4: Once the lesson or assessment is selected the Assignment Page will open
● Once your SmartBoard Assignment window opens please provide:
A Title and Description for the assignment.
