The school used Lumos tedBook program in 2018-19 to support student’s ACT Aspire preparation.
Improvement in State Ranking
There are 317 middle schools in Arkansas and Dewitt Middle School was ranked 156th in the 2017-18 academic year. In 2018-19, the school adopted Math & ELA program for Grades 6 to 8. About 30 students used the Lumos tedBook program for ACT Aspire Math & ELA practice. In the 2018-19 ACT Aspire tests, Dewitt Middle School rank improved by 59 positions.
Grade 6 ACT Aspire Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 6th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 ACT Aspire ELA assessment increased by 7%.
There was an increase of 3%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 6 Math ACT Aspire.
Grade 7 ACT Aspire Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 7th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 ACT Aspire ELA assessment increased by 2%.
Grade 8 ACT Aspire Test-scores
Compared to 2017-18, the percentage of 8th graders who met state expectations in 2018-19 ACT Aspire ELA assessment increased by 7.2%.
There was an increase of 14%, seen in the number of students who met state expectations in 2018-19 Grade 8 Math ACT Aspire.
Overall Result
- The use of Lumos tedBook for ACT Aspire Math & ELA practice in 6th, 7th & 8th grades in 2018-19 influenced an increase in the percentage of students who have met the standards.
- Grade 6, 7 & 8 students in Dewitt Middle School have surpassed the state average in both Math and ELA.
- The overall school ranking improved by 59 positions from 156 in 2018 to 97 in 2019.
